Can the people who were going to adopt my baby sue me for the money they spent???

Thank you for clarifying your background, as that wasn't evident in your response. I know people who have adopted through open adoption and their agency agreement was clear that they would not be reimbursed if the birth mother changed her mind, because it's coercive to tell a woman with no money who has just given birth, "You have to give us your baby or you'll owe a ton of money."

We agree that OP needs to review the paperwork she signed. I find it weird that you seem so confident about what that paperwork says, but the point is she should read it and hopefully make an informed decision. I just don't want her to make a decision based on what random people on the Internet said.
