I think the important distinction here is that in that thread OP was admitting to making symptoms up in the past, and was "barely a teenager". If the OP in this thread was talking about something "weird" happening with an alter and wanted advice, they wouldn't be opening the gate for invalidation. The other thread's OP was basically saying "hey I think I'm faking DID also I'm like 10" and people responded "uhhh you seem to be faking DID plus you're like 10". Not to mention that the mods did come in and said, "hey this isn't a place to piss on people, go back to your pretentious hobby subreddits." Plus, what we saw in that thread isn't common. I personally notice that for every comment that says "unless 8 professionals have said you're DID then you're faking" there are 10 posts that say "I'm not diagnosed but __________". In general, this sub is pretty welcoming, and the mods tend to shutdown trolls and harrassment pretty quickly. Maybe I'm just obliviously optimistic though.
