Can someone clarify that your able to forward calls AND texts with project fi

Well I've done a lot in the past few days. First I ported my tmobile number to ring.to which I had my GV forwarded to. I planned to give up tmobile to use project fi.

So i tried project fi out for a bit and i was dissappointed I got significantly worse t-mobile service on it. Half the time I was not on LTE i would be in H sometimes even E. I checked with an app and i was on tmobile. My girlfriends 3 years old 100 dollar LG phone would have full LTE but not my 6p.

So I did a winback port request from ring.to to reactivate my tmobile account. Returned my project fi phone and reordered from google store so i coudl get nexus protect.

I was going to just leave project fi active and have my calls and texts forwarded to my tmobile until my biling cycle ran out then give project fi a real try. THEN i foudn out that unlike google voice, you can not forward texts only calls from your project fi number.

So I just cancelled my project fi service and they say they will refund my $20 basics prorated along with unused data after 60 days have passed, and the refund can take 15 days to process.

The phone i returned i will get a full refund for (minus shipping costs which were free so I am not sure what they meant by that). They said that takes 15 days plus 3-5 to hit your card ocne they receive the phone.

I realized that i probably wont end up saving money with project fi, thats not why i wanted it. I was happy to spend what is spend with tmobile 80 monthly... but with lesser service and data I decided I think im just gonna stick with tmobile for now. Ill try project fi again in a few months to a year when they have smoothed out the bugs, and added new features.

Its kinda crazy that you loose so much of what google voice has to offer by using project fi. No text forwarding? I mean thats so very basic... and the rep on support told me they supported it before I signed up then I was told i was misinformed.

So anyway i transferred my number back to google voice which it said it will take around 24 hours and during a support call to smooth out some info about how ill be refunded on my fi bill, they told me it could take 5 days. Either way thats cool. I only used 160mg and after the port to GV finnishes probably about a week of service. So I'll end up getting around 75-80 refunded after 2-3 months lol. Thats a slow process but google fi still rules. THe support is just simply the bomb.

I just wish i had a better experience with the service. I wouldnt even be connected to wifi and id go to make a call and itd pop up hangouts which i hate to use, and say activating wifi calling. Half the time itd force wifi calls and id be too far from the router and the call quality would suck. I coudlnt figure out how to force it to data except constantly toggling wifi. I still dont get why wifi calling pops up when im ont even connected to a wifi? Maybe it just picks an open network?

I dunno, I Just feel like the whole thing about it choosing the best connection was not happening. My girlfriend lacks band 12 and I think another band of tmobile and still ahd better service.

But the nexus 6p was awesome.

PRoject fi support is awesome. great reps. most are informed much more so then a typical cell phone company. Some are better then others.

For example when i first ordered my phone i thought I clicked to add the $5 monthly insurance, but it wasnt on my email bill statement. I called and wanted to confirm i added adn he said i did not and had to cancel my order and reorder. Well it wasnt that easy, I went to reorder and ti said my device limit was reached.

After more time on the phone they reset my google fi account. I ordered a phone. One plus is I got a second welcome pack. Last year I got my nexus 6 welcome pack with a case headphones and power bank, this time i got a lego dock with cable. They didnt make me send it back.

Now I am waiting on my 6p, will pop my tmobile sim in, and go back to using google voice as my primary number as always.

When project fi gets text forwarding and I am able to see equal or better service then what i get with tmobile ill consider it.

For now, i'll stick with $80 a month for unlimited lte, 14gb tethering, unlimited bingeon streaming and bingeon tethering.

If your not a ppower data user google fi could be great. For me, having 2 bars 2g service inside a cvs i've had full LTE in for years kind of was a deal breaker.

I dont wanna badmouth google fi. They are gonna change teh game. I do wish they offered their services but wtih somet ype of unlimted data package.

Its nice that i cancelled and even though till take 2 months ill get my money back, no other cell company would do that mid term.
