Can someone explain how football works.

I'll try for some basics, as I've never really explained football before:

An nfl team has 3 aspects of the game: offense, defense, special teams, each with different goals.

Offense:

is given Downs and Distances to advance the Line of Scrimage(los)(1st and 10 means your 1st down and the 10 means how many usrds you have to go) you get 4 chances to create a 'new set of downs' by going your set distance or beyond.

Overall objective is to score points via touchdowns, which is worth 6, and go for 2 point conversions after Touchdowns to get 8 total points if successful

Defense:

Pretty simple, they have to stop the offense from getting new downs or gaining yards

Special Teams:

Their job is to handle kickoffs(kicked after a score to change which team's offense has the ball).

punts(done when an offense elects to 'give up' on their possession of the ball and give the ball to the other teams offense.

Field Goals, where if their offense is halted by the defense, but is close enough to the end of the field they're going for, they can elect to kick the ball for 3 points, rather than try for a touchdown which is 6

Extra points, a 1 point that is attempted after the offense scores a touchdown

Proper formations, referring, better concepts of play come from watching the game.

I'm probably missing things, but here's what I can jot down now
