Can someone explain to me the jump from pederasty to homosexuality?

I still don't see how he can interpret something like that.

He was given the authority to make interpretations and this is an interpretation.

So with this in mind we need to look at any possible contradictions or fallicies in Shoghi Effendis interpretation of the word pederasty meaning homosexuality.

Abdul-Baha says that Shoghi Effendi in the interpreter of the Word of God. He is infallible in matters of interpreting scripture. His interpretation in this case in infallible. It is held up by the UHJ who are the authoritative head of the Baha'i Faith. This is no way to acceptably deny or challenge his interpretation of the scripture on authority none of us have. We can't say "Shoghi Effendi is infallible except when he says something I don't like or agree with, then he in fallible." This would create a multitude of divisive personal interpretations.

We may not be able to change the interpretation of Abdul Baha or Shoghi Effendi but we are able to interpret it in light of current science and the context in which their interpretation was made. How else then could the Faith last the 1000 years until the next manifestation arrives?

But aren't we changing it if we deny his interpretation because we dislike it and don't agree? If he is the interpreter and was working only within his God-given right to interpret, then on what basis or authority do we attempt to challenge his scriptural interpretation? As to your other point, the UHJ is what leads and guides the Baha'i Faith today. However, they cannot revert or modify laws of Baha'u'llah. They can't make homosexuality not forbidden. They can't change what Abdu'l-Baha and Shoghi Effendi say. They have to work closely within this framework. They can determine how certain laws are applied. The legal punishments of the Kitab-i-Aqdas are not and have never been applied. It is up to the UHJ to decide how and when these laws should be applied. That's the intrinsic flexibility of the Baha'i Faith.

Pederasty in Baha'u'llahs life meant pederasty, just because the morality of the milieu in which Shoghi Effendi was educated in both the East and West (Oxford) were such that homosexuality was seen as immoral does not mean Shoghi Effendi is free to go against Baha'u'llahs law.

He isn't going against Baha'u'llah because he is one of the only two people allowed to interpret what Baha'u'llah actually meant infallibly. Shoghi Effendi interpreted the Baha'i scripture just as he was given the authority to. His word is the true meaning of the verse.

In fact not questioning them would go against a standard set by Baha'u'llah where he allowed constant questioning by the friends and non friends alike.

The Will and Testament of Abdu'l-Baha makes it pretty clear we are to follow Shoghi Effendi and not derive interpretations from our own feelings.
