Can someone explain to me what it means to be poorly written?

Hm, I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, but I'll try to answer. Correct me if I'm missing your point.

Legion told me, that it was a hard decision to accept the Reapers help. They weren't really willing and felt they had to do it. Once it was done, this border was crossed. They already accepted the Reaper Code and Legion probably thought it'll come in handy. It's harder to give something away you have than to deny to get it, I guess. Especially since the Geth learned the weakness of their collective intelligence the hard way.

Regarding that EDI conversation: When both sides survive, Joker is happy that they lost no one, but she reminds him that they lost Legion, that he wasn't just a representation of the collective intelligence, but a true individual that is now lost forever. She never said that he was alive because he was an individual. And EDI would have called the Geth alive before they got their upgrades...

Ok, that last sentence gives me some problems. It's hard to say what the Reaper Code actually does. After their upgrade, the Geth are still software, they can upload themself into the Quarian suits and most likely into the consensus (Legion did it). The only difference it may make is, that less Geth are needed to create a stand-alone platform like Legion (or more individualistic), that would not be affected by the Death of its comrades.

And that's where the real problem lies: We don't know what the Reaper Code does. Maybe it works the way I mentioned above, maybe completely different. Thus, I cannot say wether their civilisation is lost or just a bit different. The bad writing is in the conclusion of it, not in the situation itself. It's throwing around big words, but leaves a lot room to interpretation, while saying it's good because trust me...

Geth/Legion behavior is fine IMO, if the consequences of keeping the Reaper would be explained in more detail, it would be much easier to judge it on the moral side. (Maybe it is explained and I just missed it).

I didn't see this problem when I began writing my answer, at least one of us learned something new :P
