Can someone explain to me why the Hadid sisters are hailed as fashion icons?

I like most things Bella wears when they're not too over the top -- I've seen her rock a bodysuit and mom jeans with sneakers or cool boots in an accessible and wearable way. However, that said, I feel really cynical about the Hadids (along w/ Kendall) being the new "it girls" in fashion just because, like OP, I don't get what it is about them that is worth hyping. IMO they lack the "unf" factor Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell had back in the '90s thus it's hard for me to feel really interested in the Hadids. Instead, I see them more as obvious canvases for the brands that pay them to wear their clothes and for their stylists. I also feel like they/their families just bought them into fashion, as many have already stated here and there's nothing particularly ...there beyond that? Kendall I find particularly bland.

I get annoyed actually because I follow a lot of models of color (particularly Filipina models because my family is from there) who have imo more interesting style, but the fashion world is reluctant to move on from the same, boring drones.
