Can someone explain what's the deal with the zoom in the Rittenhouse trial?

Just want to put my 2 cents in. On images say 20 pixels in width, interpolation can make a pretty big difference. Of course, this isn’t necessarily true, but I imagine every pixel matters with respect to Kyles defense. Interpolation could give the appearance that the gun is up when it’s down, or down when it’s up—this is really only possible if the gun is truly in some vague middle range. Still, the defense doesn’t want to chance it.

The way an interpolated image catches your eye is different from the original. I for example was working with images of the surface of Mars and often the original image of tiny craters hardly look like anything (hard to say it’s a crater or a small hill), but the interpolated image looks like a perfect (blurry) crater. People with guns are more complicated than craters, but the point stands that interpolation can change perception. Anyway, it sounded like the jury will be given a non-interpolated image/video, i guess we just don’t get to hear Kyle say “that doesn’t look raised to me” or whatever.
