I really think you are deluding yourself....there is no "interpretation" to be found here. The stance is extremely clear.
Though people do not do the barbaric things described there (as times have changed) this does not suddenly make a "detestable" thing "encouraged".
I am also told by my Bible to not believe every spirit, but that I should test spirits (1 John 4:1). I am told that God reveals all secrets to prophets (Deuteronomy 22:23-24), that prophecy is only from God (Peter 1:21), and that prophecy is a gift from God (1 Corinthians 12:10), and that there will come a time that all children of God's children will be prophets (Joel 2:28).
And I am very confused by your inclusion of this. What it is saying is god talks to the prophets (one who can commune with the holy spirit), and the prophecy is only from god (not earthly spirits), and prophecy (communing with god) is a gift.
I do not see any reference to prophecy via talking to the dead. The testing of spirits is to test whether that spirit is the holy spirit (god) or an unholy spirit in disguise.
It seems to me that you are twisting the words to suit your purposes, and interpreting it as you see fit.
Your familiarity with the ancient texts makes you a scholar of religion, but does not legitimize your religion. It does also make me wonder if you believe in spirit guides.
Like I said, I am not in disagreement with your practices, but if you would call yourself a Christian and under the banner of Christianity encourage such practices, then it is plain blasphemy.
Your beliefs are "New Age" which is a mish-mash of many religions , wiccan and pagan beliefs.
