Can we stop spreading the false narrative that D1 REQUIRED you to play it as a second job?

I absolutely agree with you on the criticism. Anger is NEVER the way to voice ones opinion and there is NEVER a need to insult someone or call for them to be fired because we have a different idea of how a game should be. I sincerely believe that most if not all of the Bungie team genuinely wants to give all of us the BEST game they can produce for us. And yeah, the casual vs hardcore thing is ridiculous. Honestly we're all just gamers. Doesn't matter how many hours we play or how good we are or anything like that. I feel like even just the terms themselves unnecessarily divided the community and subtly give us the false notion that being a hardcore player makes you superior to a casual player.

I can also totally see where you're coming from when you say that some people don't need/want the grind that D1 had. Personally, I enjoyed it but I can see how it could be incredibly tedious for others, and like you said: D2 was meant to be a casual crowd pleaser, so it's not surprising they reduced the grind with that being their goal. I also like that you mentioned how it's sort of a "different strokes" kind of situation. With that in mind, I feel like finding a way to give some players the grind that they desire while not forcing it on those who don't want it would be a good idea and would broaden the game for everyone.

If people are so okay with fixed rolls and less grind then why are posts highlighting theses issues consistently getting to the top? Either they're all just trying to hate on the players that do like the endgame (like you're suggesting), or maybe a large part of the community feels that there's very large issues with endgame content and is simply voicing their opinion in the hopes that Bungie will hear it and maybe address it.
