This sub was great until synths went mainstream again in 2014 or so and then quickly went downhill into a mess of whining assholes that couldn’t figure out that other people exist and that the world does not always need to cater to YOU SPECIFICALLY at all times.

I was a mod here for many years and eventually had to just quit because dealing with the endless amount of weird racists and bigots and brainfucked grown men that stalked me unto the real world all because we tried to maintain a welcoming environment for everyone was just not worth it anymore.

As with everything- critical mass diluted the shit out of this place, and hilariously it’s all the people WHINING that the ppace should be X or really has gone downhill bc all the pictures or whatever that are the actual problem, not the stuff they are whining about.

I realize how it may sound a bit hypocritical since I am whining about them but I’m saying this as someone who literally wronte most all of the rules and sidebar and spent thousands of hours arranging AMAs and trying to make the most people happy at once as I could.

I will say that the mod team here is still and has always been great, and they try their best, but even when I was putting 30ish unpaid hours a week into this place there was just no way to keep up with it.

Reddit as a whole is nothing like it was ten years ago. A decade of overt white supremacist subs, absolutely fucking incompetent admin leadership, totally useless mod tools and even less useful mod support, and an ever more cynical, abusive lowest common denominator general audience has destroyed all of the love I used to have for this place. It’s running on sunk cost fallacy fumes at this point and really needs to be replaced with something better.
