Can Trump's presidency really be that bad?

The acceptance of Donald Trump is the abdication of equality. The country now stands at the precipice of indifference; a people unified in hate. Trump's rhetoric is that of seperatism. That there is a "They" a "them" who must be subjugated to preserve "us". In reality there is only "We", humanity, a species so intent on their own ruin that they place their faith in a demagogue. The uneducated, working class see a savior in a billionaire reality TV star. The middle class see a future modeled from a dystopian past. The wealthy, they see only greed, souls sold for gold; a planet worth defiling for a few more precious seconds with their hoard. We are lesser for the depravity of our neighbors. We are brought low by finger pointing and isolationism.

I am "They". I am part of the "Others" that our country has come to rally against. For us there is only dis-ease on the horizon. The hard fought ground I have defended with my life, for all of my life is again besieged by those who would count my existence and that of the ones I love as wrong.

If there is a moral arc to the universe that indeed bends toward justice then let there be no walls. We are all One. Our differences should be celebrated, not feared; our place in the universe cherished.

Sic Semper Tyrannis.
