You’re right, they couldn’t and shouldn’t credit a single YouTuber who called them out. Because then they would be admitting that for 4 entire years, they let those concerns pile up without doing a single thing about it and still collecting that sweet ad revenue. But none of those tiny channels or accounts who only leave a comment and move on, or would only get a few thousand views at best, could do anything meaningful. But coffee break is not a small channel at all, and kurtzgesagt would have been caught with his pants down.

And yes it’s true that kurtzgesagt has no obligation to let some small channel move forward with a hit piece. But to release a video under the guise of self reflection, guilt, and moral obligation to do the right thing is when really it’s about getting ahead of the story, screwing over another creator instead of working with them, and taking credit for your own policing that someone else did, is incredibly self righteous and morally abhorrent.
