Taxes are another matter, because in all cases you'd pay some. I pay around 50% of what I earn in taxes before sales taxes (which were brought about by conservatives btw). I am a lucky person. I feel it helps people like my wife, who comes from a very poor background but had opportunities her parents couldn't dream of. And in the end, I would give it the needy. Might as well do it as part of solid audited programs than voluntary sketchy well-meaning donor whims.

Canada's status quo is pretty much the best across all of human history. The US has it better for the top 20% who "matter", but Canada has it right.

The CPC did send government minders along with federal scientists. The value of truth predates democracy by a long shot.
