In Canada, you have to show ID and proof of address to vote in Federal elections

I don’t understand why the converse isn’t also politically convenient to you. Republicans benefit from low turnout and disenfranchisement, and what measures were Republicans supporting to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on people’s ability to vote? They said no to: more ballot boxes, more early voting, more mail in voting, curbside voting, accepting ballots postmarked for Election Day, allowing ballots with minor issues to be cured before certification, removing voucher laws, allowing USPS workers to vouch for voters, etc etc etc... Hell, it’s pretty clear the Postmaster General tried to run the USPS into the ground before the election, and enforced laws prohibiting felons from voting until they pay off debts. Come on now, you can’t accuse one side of trying to make voting partisan or not accepting fair compromise, when Republicans seem pretty committed to no compromise and making voting as complex and difficult as possible.
