Canadian heavy oil trading at ‘outrageous’ $40 discount as global prices rally

You act like the rest of Canada has actually attempted to win over moderates from Vancouver & Vancouver Island.

Considering you're so strongly in favor of the pipeline, is it safe to assume that you've spent a lot of time thinking about the increased risk of marine spills? If so, I'm curious to hear your opinion on a few things:

  • Assuming costs aren't recovered from the vessel owner, should the federal government fully reimburse BC?

  • Do you think that our current spill response capabilities are adequate? Have you seen any proof that the Canadian Coast Guard and WCMRC have improved their coordination after their delayed response to the 2015 spill in English Bay?

  • What do you think about the current state of the Oceans Protections Plan? In case you've never heard about the plan, here's a good quote to fill you in:

... two years after announcing the “largest investment ever made” to protect the country’s coasts, many of the details are still being worked out. There is no timeline for the changes, other than a commitment to launch consultations.
