Canadian moving to Delhi this summer: advice?

  1. Check the sub's wiki
  2. It's going to be really, really hot, rainy and humid (you are arriving right at the start of the monsoons). Be prepared to sweat literal buckets of sweat.
  3. Plain your weekends. Since it's going to be really hot, the mountains might be a good place to chill and relax. Just Google "hill stations near delhi" and you will find extensive info on how to get there and where to stay there.
  4. Be careful of the "Delhi Belly". Its rainy season so there is a lot of contamination, especially when it comes to liquids. Drink only bottled water, bottled sodas, beers or hot beverages (tea and coffee). Avoid everything else e.g. juices, cocktails/mocktails, drinks with ice etc. Easiest way to ruin trip is to get a very bad stomach infection that takes weeks to clear or worse, something like Hepatitis B or Typhoid - which will take a month to clear.
