That is the message. Unfortunately, a lot of people (who probably aren’t bad people—just indoctrinated), really think they’re trying to help you. It’s so fucked. You’re just trying to live your life and they’re stressed about you “not getting into heaven”. I know there are objectively bad people who scream this same rhetoric but I’d say most just have bought into this belief and legitimately want you to believe so your soul doesn’t burn for eternity (or whatever).

My Grandma was a gem. Such a good human. Did charity work, worked for the city to try to make it a better place, loved everyone… including gasp the gays. But she hated that her kids and grandkids didn’t believe in this stuff. Honestly, it seems super stressful to be worried about everyone who doesn’t hold your views like that.
