The MMA world at large was first introduced to "Platinum" Mike Perry at the UFC 202 weigh-ins. Here he extended his hand to greet his opponent, Hyun Gyu Lim, but it was merely an incredible ruse of mental warfare by the GOAT!! Instead he left Lim holding air as he retracted his hands, curled them into fists and screamed the immortal meme and first words of his gospel: "THOUGHT YOU HAD A FRIEND, BOOIIIII?!?! ARRRGGGHHHH"

Now some of this board immediately turned on our new messiah, wishing ill will and knockouts upon him. But us enlightened ones realised this was fucking hilarious and began rooting for him. I even put money down on him by first round knockout because I thought the weigh-in shit was transcendent. And low and behold as Mike Perry spoke it, it was true. Hyun Gyu Lim did not have a friend. He had an enemy boi.

Later in an interview with the MMA Hour he went on to say a host of other hilarious shit. When asked why his nickname was Platinum he replied something to the effect of: "Platinum is the most valuable metal. If we wanted to build satellites to talk to god we'd build them out of Platinum to reach across the universe." So not only is he a fighter, but also a modern day philosopher and inventor! He then had to cut the interview short when he revealed he had a court meeting as he was out on parole for burglary. This showed us that even though we may come from difficult and troubled backgrounds, redemption is always a possibility. And through our lord and saviour Mike Perry, it may be achieved.
