Why we can't have nice things

I think this is one of their future fears:

It really makes you think of what other things that we cna do with science to change who we are to make our lives easier. Living in many parts of the world with a darker complexion is harder. Many cultures have had class systems for fairness. It is not a disability, but depending on where you live, that culture can force you to live as if it was a disability. Slowly we are breaking down those walls of injustice but they are clearly still there. If it was possible to have a procedure to make yourself have fair skin, there would be many who would do it. Some may hate their skin, but it's mostly because they know how much less hate they would have if they changed.

I think genetic diversity is extremely important and we should learn to love who we are. But science will eventually get to a stage where a procedure like this will be possible and there will be a lot of backlash and fear.
