Can't Protest this Thursday in solidarity with the Trans/LGBTQ+ Community?

“The fact that I have to explain this to students accepted to Cornell, who are obviously smart, is just embarrassing”

When something is extremely obvious to one, but not others… perhaps you’ve failed to consider all the variables. I get why people are upset and do not agree, but has anyone definitively stated why they would have this contrasting opinion on the same day?

Perhaps think of this. If you have an opinion that you think is so strong and has such validity behind it that it’s glaringly obvious it is the “right” opinion… why not have someone who you think will be hateful voice their opinion right after? Doesn’t that give you the stage to look in the right while they look like the hateful side? Doesn’t that foster a conversation between both sides?

At the end of the day it doesn’t matter how much YOU think it’s obvious. Screaming racist at someone who’s racist isn’t going to change their opinions. It’s just going to polarize both sides even more. Having opposing views present their ideas in a public forum, no matter how loving or hateful, creates a dialog where people can be open to more change.
