You can't spell freedom sauce without USA

It's very often argued that the American declaration of independence was either directly or indirectly inspired by the Dutch Act of Abdication because of their similar form and because they say similar stuff. Also because it is one of the few things of the sort that happened in the 'Western world' at the time.

Also these former Englishmen were very well versed in the system of government the Netherlands used at the time and Dutch philosophers and thinkers, as was usual.

Also, I was just saying that the post made it sound like God invented independence when the Americans did it, but they/God didn't. It already existed before the Americans did it, and that there even is (a probable) change that they were inspired by a rather recent in historical perspective, independence war.
