I captured this plasma storm on the sun by pointing my telescope at it for one hour.

This animation is running at 32 frames per second and packs 1 hour and 6 minutes of sun activity into 3.84 seconds, running in forward and reverse motion.

Follow me on Instagram if you would like to see what's possible to be captured from our own backyard and to see what telescopes I use.

Hardware

Imaging Telescope:
Orion ED80T CF

Imaging Camera:
ZWO ASI183MM

Mount:
Celestron AVX

Solar Filter:
DayStar Quark Chromosphere

Note: The surface of the sun is black because I overexposed it so the action above the rim would be easier to see. By overexposing it, it became all white and no detail could be seen. So I made it black in post-processing as a personal preference.
