Carbon tax won’t harm economy, but climate change will: study - National

Bad idea. Middle class people depend on the usage of their cars (well most). That’s punishing the middle class for working? The alternatives to gas are not there yet and this is just smother excuse to take money from people.

If the goal is to make everyone switch to alternative let me spell that out as a winnipeger:

Winnipeg transit is god awful. Busses are late, weather is bad which makes that worse, they get full often and you are stuck waiting more, and full city coverage is poor and you need 3 busses for example to get from where I’m at to downtown.

EVs: compare the cost of an EV to a used vehicle or even new vehicle. Always higher.

Cycling: winter most of the year and will triple commute times.

People are not going to switch from gas. They’re gonna get stuck paying the higher tax and nothing will come of it except politicians get to line their pockets and laugh as they pretend to want a greener earth.
