‘Cards Against Humanity’ Creator Just Pledged To Buy and Publish Congress’s Browser History

I think it's a great move by the guy too, but I'm really really skeptical about this not being 90% a publicity stunt. The thing is that we know ISPs will be able to sell your data, but they can sell it to whoever they want. Odds are a major ISP isn't going to throw the congressman under the bus that they have a political relationship with just so they can make a chunk of change.

In the studies I've heard of, funding a politician can have ENORMOUS returns in the favorable policies they'll pass for big corporations. Let's say for example Comcast has a relationship with Ted Cruz. They're flooding him with money and in return he's passing legislation that's helping them out big time. Cards Against Humanity CEO comes in and says he wants to buy Ted Cruz's browsing history. He may offer a lot of money, but it would be a drop in the bucket compared to what they'd make in the long term from Cruz helping them out.

But ok then let's say another scenario where they don't like Cruz or the money is too tempting. Why would they roll the dice and get another politician in power who potentially couldn't be bought and might even work to repeal their ability to sell said data?

What I'm getting at is you can refuse to do business with whoever you want and these guys aren't going to get a little money just to make a little scratch and hurt their company long time. That said, this guy may be able to funnel the money through a marketing company that an ISP wouldn't be suspicious of at all then he could study through the data for any politicians, but something tells me the guys that got this legislation enacted would mysteriously have their files missing in any data mining purchases.
