Careers In Writing

I'm not a writer but i work with 2 full-time writers at an ed tech startup. One of them is an award winning YA author who wanted to do something different for a while, the other is a fresh out of college hire. Both of them are phenomenal btw. There's a pretty wide spectrum of what they write about, but it's all circles around school marketing, and education school administrators about the principles, and sharing success stories and data. They've both had challenges, some of them personal some of them more indicative of a startup workplace that is constantly rethinking it's objectives (which can be fun, but is definitely not for everyone.) The personal challenges usually stem from a breakdown in communication, or a lack of clarity in what we are trying to achieve with what they are writing. It's not always black and white for them. Sometimes they put the concepts down and everything about how we're presenting/communicating them isn't representative of us or where we want to position ourselves.
