I don't think Kane's issue is his dropping deep or staying up, which, though seemingly contradictory, have been both claimed in this thread. Rather, if you look at his movement he consistently runs into positions that aren't conducive to getting the ball. Anybody who has played knows that there are certain times you feel your touch is a bit shit or that you're just generally off, and you'll often make a bunch of faux runs where you keep a defender between yourself and the ball. I'm not saying that this is exactly what is happening with Kane, just that his movement reminds me so much of myself when I'm trying to avoid receiving the ball but still trying to make it look like I'm working hard.
