Carrie and Lowell is the best album of the year

dude... depends what kind of kanye you want. his sound has morphed as the musical "landscape" has changed with years.. You can try something really melodic and poppy liek his older stuff that you proabbly are more familiar with (gold digger, flashing lights, love lockdown, etc) or then you can get to the sad stuff on 808s (not his strongest album but still solid) - but in my opinion where you start to realize you're working with no ordinary musician/rapper/curator whatever you want to call him is on my beabutiful dark twisted fantasy.. start that album from the beginning and give it a few songs in, if it doesn't stick (which it should) then maybe you're not a fan of the maximalism.. and maybe try out yeezus which is very different. very minimalist compared to the previous album but also very industrial sounding and gritty - sounds are harsh and abrasive but so is much of the new music coming out nowadays - so he's always really one step ahead of the global music scene. on yeezus for newbies id recommend "Hold My Liquor", "blood on the leaves" if you want a massive rager, "I'm In It" if you want some cool rapping - prertty much all of it
