To be fair, I think both the author of this article and Rebecca Solnit are using some straw men to drive their arguments. Solnit's essay basically boils down to her applying Feminist Theory to Lolita, something that has surely been done by hundreds of academics before her, and making the uncontroversial point that some unspecified internet commenters don't understand feminism or literary theory.

The Quillette article's author cites remarkably few sources that Lolita is actually in danger of being "canceled" and incorrectly reasons that resistant, feminist readings of Lolita will lead to calls for its cancellation.
