Cat diet help.

We still give some high protein dry food throughout the day (along with their main wet food meal in the evening) but the way I solved overfeeding (one of our cats was packing on the pounds) is I got two small plastic Tupperware containers with lids, I think they are 1/2 cup size and labeled for each cat. At the begining of the day I fill the containers and put the lid on, pour some out for them to eat while we're at work, then a little after work and then some at night to eat while we're sleeping. I only pour each cats dry food into their respective bowl. Sometimes there's a little crossfeeding e.g. the big cat will eat her kibbles, but it's still less than when they were free feeding, and there's only a little in each bowl at a time. Once the small container is empty they are done, no more dry food for the day. If they eat it too fast it's their own fault. Having the measured portion with a lid was easy to control and visually see how much they were eating. And since it's covered I can just toss it back in with the main kibble container each time throughout the day and still keep their portions separate. It's not an exact science but it's easy enough to do and stick with which is the important part, and I definitely see weight loss and body composition improvements. Also, be sure to play with them every day, a little exercise can go a long way!
