Causes of Death

I think these charts are interesting and informative, but at the same time, the news is going to report on things that are unexpected or stuff that folks don't already know about, or stuff that will keep viewers engaged. I feel like everyone knows the number one cause of death is heart disease. That said, while we know some absolutes concerning prevention, we don't know everything. A lot of it is diet and exercise. What diet and exercise? Well, before, we couldn't eat eggs, now we can. We should never eat fat. Now fat is necessary. Because nutritional science is always changing, it's best to report new studies, but leave actual nutritional advice to the doctors and dietitians when talking directly to their individual patients.

Other medical issues are about the same. We really don't need that much information about a specific subject for us to retain that info. A refresher now and again is fine!

But news and current events change daily. Even if there are only two people killed today in a terrorist attack, it's still going to be a horrible story and different from the ten people killed in a terrorist attack next week. People want to hear about that. What happened? What caused the attack? Are the survivors okay? What's being done to prevent this and investigate? These are questions people have, and I think it's fine to report on it.

Where it becomes a problem is when those reporting it (Fox) exaggerate (Fox) and mislead (Fox) who the terrorists are and what their actual threat level is.
