CBDCs: The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

Since we are talking about CBDC and currently China being the only country that is currently implementing this system for real, 3 more observations to add on-

1) Digital Yuan issued have "expiry date". Intention for this was to encourage consumer spending propping up domestic economy.

2) Due to China currently experiencing power shortage with some cities having power blackout & without Internet, many consumers experienced issues with digital transactions (eg, buying groceries, petrol, taxi etc). This to note since China had been using "cashless" QR code scanning payment for years, even before the introduction of digital yuan.
