CDC recommends HPV Vaccines for boys

At the end of the day I think the most important thing is to respect the choice of each individual. If you think your cancer was worse than the potential side effects of the vaccine then you should give the vaccine to your kids.

I dont agree with anti vaxxers (the idea that all vaccines are bad) but I also dont agree with pro vaxxers (the idea that all vaccines are good). I base my viewpoint on research on each vaccine.

Using Danish statistics 1/4 experiences side effects and 1/20 experiences severe side effects. The severe side effects are basically as bad as the cancer than you experienced yourself. The girls who gets these kind of side effects have their lives completely ruined, not just for 10 years but for the rest of their lives (no cure has been found yet).

Compare the 1/20 with severe side effects to the chances of getting cancer, you will find that you are 15 times less likely to get cancer. Of course with cervical cancer you have a 28% chance to die but just going to your doctor often enough will reduce the chance to die down to 9%.

So lets do the calculations (1/20)/15/3 = 0,0011111% so you have a 0,0011111% chance to die from the cancer which the HPV virus causes while you have a 5% chance to have your life ruined from the Gardasil vaccine.

If you go to your doctor often enough it becomes ~0,00037% chance to die from this type of cancer.

Now another thing to keep in mind is that so far it has only been proven that Gardasil is very dangerous (but this is also the most used HPV vaccine) so if you can get your hands on the other brands they may be safe, but again no one knows.

Lastly if your kids are unhealthy there is a much higher chance that they will suffer no side effects so that is another thing you can keep in mind when doing the cost/benefit calculation.

Personally im still not going to let this vaccine anywhere near my kids.
