Cécile Bloch case is a criminal case that starts in Paris, in France, on may 5th 1986. That day, Cécile Bloch 11 years old, is raped and murdered, while she was leaving her family home to get to school. The criminal brigade of the 36, quai des Orfèvres opens, the same day, a police investigation. The police officers determined the circumstances of the homicide, elaborate and broadcast a robot potrait of the presumed murderer of the little girl.

Afterwards, in-depth police investigations showed the implication of this one in other agressions, rapes and murders, tracing the bloody course of a repeat offending criminal. The expertise of psychocriminologists is solicitated. The application of genetic identification techniques, introduced in France in the year 1990s, validates the established overlaps by the investigators with other criminal cases, and reveal new tracks. The little girl's family, who isn't informed of the development of the judicial instruction, recourse to a private investigation.

During more than 35 years, the murderer of Cécile Bloch, nicknamed "le Grêlé" by the police and media from the fact that his skin was supposedly damaged, remains unfound. The september 30th 2021, a DNA identification allows the criminal brigade of Paris to ("confondre" idk the translation to that) François Vérove, an ancient french gendarme and policeman of 59 years. This one, died from suicide the day before in a lodging from Grau-du-Roi, close to Montpellier, leaving behind him a letter admitting numerous crimes he has commited.
