Celebrating a little early don’t you think?

It's still a live ball BUT....

Your own logic is flawed, and it isn't what he's asking, you're also oversimplifying everything. It isn't essentially what's happening, other variables are being introduced to the equation but folks don't need to be assholes and downvote him for trying to learn:

The ball hits and goes back out into the field keeping it live and the kicker could have pursued the ball at that point, instead it bounces back in, rather than as you tried to imply is the same as a ball ricocheting into the goal off the post or off the ground near the post, , it's completely leaving the goalie's box, out into open field and then travelling back on it's own without being touched, hence anyone naturally being confused to it's status as dead or live.

It's only the same in the aspect that it's still a live ball in all scenarios.

TLDR don't be a dick, Dick.
