Centering in lane help

Hey everyone, I have been practicing looking as far ahead as possible and looking where I want to go. This does keep me centered; however, I am still struggling to get comfortable looking as far ahead as I can just because I am not 100% certain of my lane position when doing this.

That said, there is one "trick" that does help me get comfortable without looking at the mirrors to check position, and I would like some input/advice on this if you don't mind. About 2 weeks ago I came across another reddit thread and a user was experiencing the same problem and I found this posted as a suggestion:

"This trick has worked for me in the several cars I've driven. In smaller cars (i.e. not trucks or SUVs), the yellow line should line up near the bottom-left corner of the windshield, and the white line should be roughly in the center of the windshield. The main point here to try and keep the lines centered between the left corner and the center of the windshield. Example: http://imgur.com/sgUN09G " (I condensed the post quite a bit).

I have found that the above "trick" does calm my nerves when driving. It allows me to look far ahead and it assures me that I am centered. What do you guys/gals think of this? I know I was instructed not to use visual cues, but I am curious of your thoughts regarding this, as it doesn't really distract me like looking at mirrors/fender do and I can see it from the bottom corner of my eye.

Hopefully "Staying ceneted" won't be an issue after a couple more months of driving. And thanks again to everyone who replied. Here is the link to the other thread I referenced. https://www.reddit.com/r/driving/comments/2oqjcd/tips_for_staying_center_in_lane/
