Why do certain people seem to have the innate desire to enslave others?

What drives the poor to rise up against oppression is likely the same thing that makes the rich oppress the poor. It's Marxism reversed, if you read the corporate press a lot you see it all the time, the rich are terrified of the mob, they are terrified of losing their power, just like the poor are terrified of losing their jobs, and becoming useless to those with capital. But if you asked the rich about their perspective, they would tell you what they do is moral, that years of oppression have actually improved the world, and that they are on the right side of history. But what makes us do this? Why do we always have to be good, even when we're not, why even lie to yourself? I think it's because human beings are fundamentally moral, and they have a conscious. But the world being as rough as it is, good people can become bitter.
