Channel 4 News - The British expats in Spain facing an uncertain future under no-deal Brexit

I honestly want to know what they thought would happen when they voted leave. Was it an expectation of automatic privileged status because they’re British? Or that Brexit would cut immigration in the U.K. but wouldn’t affect them?

I voted Remain and I’m in the last stages of relocating to the Netherlands. I have no expectations of being treated any better than any other immigrant to the country. In fact, I expect it will be pretty tough. But since this is a permanent thing I’m giving it my all; I’m already learning Dutch and studying the history & culture. If No Deal happens I’ll be applying for residency immediately and shortly thereafter for citizenship.

I come from a working-class background, I couldn’t afford to go to uni but I worked hard, built up a solid consultancy business and paid a hell of a lot of tax. I’m one of those the current gov supposedly praises: someone who pulled themselves up by their bootstraps. But they’ve treated me and other millennials like scrounging scum, so I’m gonna take my skills, my money, and my patriotism somewhere where it will be appreciated.

Fuck the baby boomers. They cry that it’s been hard for them, but they’ve had it fucking easy.
