Codename: Jinx

Full Name: Raven Richardson

Age: 17

Appearance: Photo. Long, jet black hair. 5’8” tall and skinny. Her letf arm and her right leg are covered in arcane tattoos that, along with her eyes, glow red whenever she casts spells. The tattoos on her arm extend up her shoulder and onto her neck slightly, as well.

Personality: Jinx is mischievous, compassionate, stubborn, trusting, and sarcastic. She has always been somewhat of a rebel, and learning how to deal with a chain of command will be difficult for her. She is somewhat known for making off-the-cuff decisions with varying results. This is what lead people to calling her “Jinx,” as having her around was said to be unlucky

Backstory: (this uses language from the original HeroRP, fyi)

Raven Richardson is the most recent generation in what was once a long line of magic users. Her parents were not able to cast spells, and neither were her parent's parents. Actually, spellcasting ability hadn't been present in Raven's family for several generations. Technically powerless at birth, Raven unknowingly possesses two recessive alleles of a very specific gene, which changed her brain chemistry to allow her to pioneer into spellcasting later in her life. Essentially - Raven is a mutant, though she has never used that term to describe herself.

Born and raised in Silver City, Raven's parents thought her powerless. They did not find it prudent to tell Raven about her ancestors, and as a result she had a fairly normal childhood. At around age 10, she started getting interested in magic as she knew it - basically showmen doing well crafted tricks and illusions. She started self-teaching, quickly learning several card tricks and sleight of hand tricks.

At 16, she was showing a new card trick to a group of her friends on the sidewalk when a prominent show magician took notice of her. He offered her a job as his sidekick, which she readily accepted. One evening she was browsing this performer's library when she came across a book detailing "Cantus magic." Her mentor dismissed the book as "crazy theories by ancient mystics who claimed to be able to command the elements." Intrigued, she studied the book carefully, and within the week found herself casting the basic spells outlined in the first few chapters.

Over the next year she would continue learning from the book, and, much to her mentor’s dismay, unlocked more and more previously untapped power. She heard about the goings on here and decided to show up to train.

Major Power- Sorcery: Jinx is capable of casting magic through the use of gestures, incantations, glyphs, and blood.

  • Elemental magic - Jinx can manipulate the four elements (air, water, earth, fire) through the use of spells.
  • Offensive magic: Jinx can focus arcane energy into blasts/beams/bullets. In melee combat, she can focus this energy into claws, giving her enhanced striking power.
  • Defensive magic: Healing spells, forcefields (durability 8).
  • Miscellaneous magic: Subsonic flight, basic telekinesis (with the exception of psionic speed, psionic strength, and bullet projection)

**Minor Power:* None.

Power Drawbacks/Weaknesses:

  • Jinx’s magic is pretty “wild” at the moment. She doesn’t have perfect control over her abilities, causing them to backfire or sometimes not produce the desired effect.
  • All magic has some kind of component. Most are vocal or somatic (hand gestures), but some require blood or a glyph to be drawn. Binding and gagging Jinx basically renders her powerless.
  • Magic is taxing physically. Stronger magic puts a greater strain on her body, requiring her to rest after extended periods of magic use.
  • Spell success is directly related to self confidence and her mental state. A shattered mind/personality guarantees disastrous results or just complete spell failure.
  • Magic can be beat. People who are strong enough can break through her forcefields, those durable enough can take more punishment from her blasts, etc. True “benders” of the elements will always be able to overpower Jinx in a battle of their respective elements.

Resistances: Forcefields are resistant to all manner of assault: physical, magical, and elemental. However, she cannot keep them up forever, and a saturated/continued assault will eventually cause them to break. Jinx herself is just a normal human, with no special resistances.

Special Skills: Street magic (sleight of hand tricks, card magic, mentalism), knowledge of the arcane/weird/occult, tarot card readings

Equipment: Super suit cuz I like how MCU Scarlet Witch looks. Other than that, nothing.
