Emily grew up in a small hamlet in Western Canada with 3 elder siblings. She like many others her age had grown up hearing tales of the Empire, girls were often taunted by bullies in high school that they would be sent off to those foreign shores. Women should take safe routes home at night lest you find yourself kidnapped and shipped off. But these cautionary tales didn't have the same impact for Emily growing up as one of the boys rather than the girls.
At some point around her 16th birthday she realised that she was trans and excited to come out in a changing world that would support her. Unfortunately her family didn't. Forbidden from transitioning while under her parents' roof she planned to leave and live with a close friend and after 9 long months of backlash from her family she managed to do just that. Graduating near the top of her class and beginning her transition she managed to move away from her unsupportive family and went to university. There she lived freely and happily as herself, grew as a person, fell in love and experienced heartbreak eventually leaving with a degree in Engineering. Time marches ever on and is said to heal all wounds so she returned to her home town for the wedding of her once close friend and saviour.
Returning to town as a confident woman and revealing her true self to all the locals was an insult that her family couldn't bear. So from a guy who knew a guy they found a trader to the MDE. A small but very lucrative trade in trans female slaves to the Empire. It was a resource that didn't occur commonly in the Empire, after all you'd have to be a special kind of crazy to come out as a native and perhaps even more crazy to move there willingly, so there existed a trade for those who wanted to punish and humiliate 'gender traitors', those born on the right side of the Natural Order who gave it up. Emily's family planned and executed the kidnap and they claimed she was visiting home in an attempt to make amends just long enough for it to be too late for anyone to realise she was missing. That was how she found herself in a crate on a ship with a hood over her head, stripped naked with a chastity cage around her betrayed genitals about to be shipped off to the Empire.
