Characters Making Dumb Decisions =/= Bad Writing

Hey, randomizdhandle on twitter here. I just want to second the request made by maracamilkshake for more information on what's being done to make sure this doesn't happen again. Are any particular changes to policy or process being enacted that you can tell us about? For example, I know other companies sometimes have policies against commenting publicly on ships that are not currently, actively canon in the story as it has been released, which has always struck me as a good, sensible policy, clearly designed to prevent situations exactly like this one. I know you can't control what former employees do, but a lot of what went wrong here had to do with current employees' remarks, and of course certain posts by the official twitter account that seemed to back up the idea that Qrow and Clover were headed in a canon direction.

I would also like to hear about if Rooster Teeth has any plans to hire sensitivity readers in the future, as suggested here: https://thecuriousblitz.tumblr.com/post/190654020051/hopes-for-rwby-vol-8-a-commitment-from-rt-to-do

At the end of the day, I do recognize that you personally are only responsible for the written portion of what ends up on our screens, but others are also correct in that someone had to have seen this after the different aspects were combined. It's a long, complicated process with may steps between "write script" and "post episode," meaning there were likely multiple opportunities to catch this and tone it down, so that even if people did still end up shipping it (which they would've, let's not kid ourselves), at least there wouldn't have been this extra painful aspect where people who have been waiting literal decades of their lives for representation had actual hope, and then had to suffer through having those hopes dashed in one of, if not the most shockingly violent moment of the show. Could Clover's flirtatious body language have been caught and changed before the scenes went through lighting? If not, then could the bi pride flag background on his death have been caught before the animation was finalized? (As you may be able to tell, I'm not in the industry, so I'm not 100% clear on the order in which things happen when you're making a show like this).

And of course, nothing excuses the social media side of things. Even if you can't control individual animators on their personal accounts, the official RWBY account is certainly under RoosterTeeth's control, and should not have been adding fuel to the fire.

Last of all, I do want to say that I know this hasn't been easy for anyone involved, so thank you for at least being somewhat open to communication with fans on this subject. The whole thing is a mess, but this is at least better than the radio silence we're getting on every other channel.
