Characters whose tropey personality is actually a case of being mentally unwell in the story.

Eve, one of the bosses from No Straight Roads, seems like the standard pretentious abstract artist. Then you fight her, and it's revealed that she and Zuke, one of the heroes, used to date before he abruptly ran out on her. She spends the entire fight begging Zuke to come back to her, while attempting to justify to herself why his new bond with his partner Mayday is so strong to diminishing returns. As it turns out, her view of the world legitimately is fundamentally different than most people, and her behavior very closely matches those who have borderline personality disorder even if nothing concrete is said about it. She's completely aware of this and is utterly desperate to find anyone who shares her mindset, which is why she clung to Zuke so hard. Her pretentiousness was just her way of trying to cope with seemingly finding no one afterwards who she could relate to. Also, it's revealed in some unlockables that Zuke ran out on her because she lit his hair on fire during a performance not knowing that it was harmful, which reflects her mental state more than anything else.
