Good question. I don't know!

It's good to keep in mind that there are several different FICO scoring models also.

However, it seems credit cards and loan officers look at FICO scores rather than Vantage scores, which makes the latter much less useful. (Also, I don't have data to back it up here, but it seems different FICO scores are closer to each other than Vantage scores—and if not still seem to be looking at more similar data in the first place.)

Maybe the VantageScore was devised because it's easier/cheaper to generate than a FICO score or initially it was a competitor for FICO that never caught on with commercial customers. I really have no idea what the point is.
