Ho. Ly. Crap. What a poopy weekend! /CommenceRant So I moved into a new apartment (basement floor) at the end of January this year. Upon moving in I noticed the frame of one of our window screens was bent. No big, I reported it and they said it would be fixed ASAP. Skip ahead to June 16th. I get home from work at around 10:30pm. I step beside my bed and it's wet. Upon further investigation it's wet along the entire outer wall of our apartment in every room! I reported it right away to the people in power via email and voicemail. Next day, nothing. Called again, nothing. June 19th, finally get an answer. Having done construction work in the past I knew exactly what the issue was: There is a plastic tube called a Big-O pipe this pipe collects ground water and allows it to drain slowly into the ground instead of up into the building. The tube was backed up so water was not draining and leaking up between the crack where the foundation meets the floor. They said it wasn't a big deal and hired a cleaner to come in and clean the carpets. This means 9 industrial fans, 4 dehumidifiers, a carpet shampooing and a sterilization to prevent mold. I was going away to Toronto that weekend to see System of a Down so it wasn't a big deal to be out of the apartment for 3 days while they did this. We got back that Sunday the 21st (the dehumidifiers killed my house plants...) and all was clean and well but I knew the next time we got a lot of rain it would happen again. Last Monday (the 6th) we got a pretty heavy rain. Floors started to leak again on Tuesday night. Called them that night and left emails. No answer until Thursday. Cleaners came in Friday the 10th and did the same thing taking up our apartment until Sunday the 12th. They expected us to stay there while it was 94 degrees in our apartment with 9 industrial fans running. No way. It was my birthday weekend and I had plans to have friends over. After some arguing they put us up in the model apartment in the building next door. Which was fine until we realized the people above us were having a party and being extremely loud and yelling obnoxious obscenities off the balcony all day and night. We left Saturday morning, there was no way I was staying there again. We cancelled my birthday plans Saturday and went to my gf's mothers for the night. Came back Sunday and all was clean again and they stated they've got a contractor coming to fix the issue Tuesday (the 14th). When we got everything back into place (had to move furniture for cleaners) I noticed none of the outlets work in my apartment now (except the kitchen thank our lord and savior, Cthulu). The cleaners fans blew 3 of the fuses. I reported it. Sat in the dark staring at my walls for 8 hours last night. Today came (happy birthday to me!) and we had a meeting with the property manager. They decided waiving the parking fee of $35 a month for a month was adequate compensation. I got a little upset at this and let him have it (while being professional). In the end it was decided we would be moved to a new, slightly larger unit at a discounted rate ($75 off per month, but I had an all inclusive apartment and this one will add on a hydro bill), comped 6 months of parking, and a new stainless steel stove. We get to move Wednesday. I still don't have a f*****g screen. /EndRant Needless to say I had a stressful weekend and today isn't really going much better. I could use a real pick me up. Share a funny story with me, a funny picture, a funny video. Anything to get my mind in a better place. TL;DR - Had a rough weekend, need some cheering up. Make me laugh!
