Checkmate

There's a huge difference in personal hygiene and grooming and having surgery to remove or alter your genitals and mammaries. There's a huge difference in body adornments like earrings and tattoos ans scarification and having your body pumped full of hormones it doesn't make on it's own. HRT is one thing for women that have problems creating it on it's own, it's no different than having an artificial kidney or being on dialysis. But to force your body to change into a different biological sex because you're unhappy with yourself is not "nature".

Seahorses change sex because it's for the survival of the offspring. Humans attempting to change sex is for...? What? Trying to placate your mental illness? Should we just placate those with schizophrenia as well, humor them and try to talk to the voices they hear, too? Should we allow for medical procedures to let folks who think they're a cat get ear surgery and a tail attached to their body, so they can feel more "comfortable" in their skin?

Biologically we are split into male and female. If there was a third sex to be had, we would've developed additional chromosomes. If there was the natural ability to change sex, it would've come with our DNA print. Sure, technology and abusing hormones is innovate but it doesn't change the primary foundation of one's DNA and who and what they are. Men have prostates and male genitalia and women do not. Women have uteruses, ovaries, and female genitalia and men do not. Extreme exceptions are those born genetically male or female but also had a mutation that caused an ill-functioning prostate or uterus, or a woman who has had a hysterectomy. However, folks are trying to use those examples as reasons why transitioning people are male or are female despite lacking those organs and parts of their body.

Here's the thing, though: women are meant to carry children, they're meant to menstruate. That's how nature is. That's how our species is. Men were meant to help create the children and do not menstruate. That's not saying women are only meant for having babies, but that's how our species functions in nature. Nature gives us the option of carrying a child if we'd like to. You cannot claim to be a woman if you do not have the right chromosomes. You cannot claim to be a man if you do not have the right chromosomes.

MRI scans of tran brains show that it lights up differently, the same way patients with other mental disorders do. Because it's an "identity crisis", folks are deciding to change their fundamentals instead of seeking help to accept themselves and the body they are born in. We need to quit shaming mental health awareness and support therapy. Instead of telling young children that their brain is misfiring, we are allowing them to claim a different sex? Absolute nonsense. Children's brains don't stop developing for a while and many will grow to resent the permanent changes mom and dad let them out their bodies through.

It's one thing to change your hair color or wear make up or shave a beard or your legs. It's another thing to think you're a different sex because your brain is broken. I'd be happy to call someone trans the sex they want to be once they have ticked all the boxes, including inner sex organs, but as long as you have a prostate, you're a man and not a woman. As long as your body has/had a uterus and ovaries, you're a woman and not a man. Folks are welcome to change their non-sexual outside aesthetic as much as they like by working out, dying their hair, getting a tattoo, or wearing clothes that are more femine or masculine. That's all they should have to do. Instead, we're going to extremes to add and remove body parts because...? We don't want to talk to a therapist and admit there might be something wrong with our brains?

Coming to terms with mental illness is difficult for anyone, whether it's depression, schizophrenia, PTSD, or bipolar disorder. Having body and gender dysphoria and dysmorphia should be discussed more and encouraged to seek therapy more than just sweeping it under the rug. It's a mental disorder, not a way of life that should have a following.

I also feel like there's a good handful who would rather try to change their sex than to come to terms with being gay or lesbian... Those aren't answers to those issues, either. It all boils down to taking the time to care for mental health and seek professional help. And the "professionals" who approve of folks butchering their bodies and undergoing unnecessary hormonal therapy are not professionals, especially if it's a kid under the age of 18.
