Chelsea Manning running for Senate

I can have a respectful conversation with anyone that wants to. I think movements both inside and outside the system are important. I'm glad that there are people like you that are unwilling to work within the system. We need that. But I'm also glad that she's running. It makes some of the leftist ideas more mainstream. We need way more people for a successful movement to occur. Something like a hundred million in US. Bernie Sanders has introduced many people to leftist ideas. If Chelsea Manning wins the Senate, it's a big deal for leftism in general. So many people are calling her traitor. Her winning would show that the public is against US atrocities done by our military. She may introduce bills that no Democrat establishment would even dream about. And if the public supports that, it creates a real leftist momentum and from that momentum, many casual liberals would turn to socialism, communism, anarchism, etc.

It's similar to my views on violence, money, etc. I would prefer no violence. But what revolution has been successful without any violence? Similarly I don't like participating in an unethical system and paying taxes that will find unethical foreign wars. But what choice do I have? You can work both inside and outside the system simultaneously. I use credit cards and phones made by capitalism but so what. As long as we are working towards a goal, all means should be employed. Do you really believe leftist movement like communism has any real shot in this society? Look at it's failure in gaining momentum in US. We need more people. I think Manning running is a big deal. I welcome people of varying levels of radicalism.
