Chicago police officer severely beaten by suspect 'did not use her gun to defend herself for fear of a backlash'

A lot of people in this thread don't understand the effects PCP has on its users. I'm a police officer and I have had many many encounters with people high on PCP. Sometimes they are just strung out or mildly erratic. Sometimes they are extremely violent and feel no pain despite broken bones or in one case I had, feeling no pain with an arm essentially hanging by a thread. The empty look you see with someone high off PCP is very very haunting to be honest. It's like seeing a zombie. It can take 3-4 very strong and adept fighters to put someone on PCP in handcuffs. One thing officers use to get combative subjects in handcuffs is pain compliance techniques to the subjects hand/wrist. People high on PCP can be entirely immune to pain compliance techniques which will make the officers have to muscle the suspect into cuffs. PCP is no joke. I understand how this officer feels but officers need to take care of business. You have to rely on your training and best judgement and you can't worry about the backlash.
