Hi OP. I was in the same state as you before when someone I knew moved to the US. When I learned about them moving, every time na magcocommute ako and kailangan kong pumila, nagkakaroon ako ng resentment. “Bakit ganito nalang sa Pilipinas”. But remember that the grass is always greener on the other side. That same person confided in me that they’re feeling homesick. Wala siyang pamilya doon and all their connections with the americans are shallow friendships. Iba pa rin yung cultural ties. Yes, they’re doing well compared here, nakabili siya ng sarili nyang car. Pero di pa rin mawawala yung lungkot despite all the material things. Not to mention all the racism and micro aggressions they had to put up with in a predominantly white community. Kahit yung kapwa nya Pilipino, iba pa rin dahil doon na sila lumaki.
