Childless Man Wonders Who’ll Be There To Neglect Him When He’s Old

I occasionally dabble in a little online bingo. I played last week to see if I could get a little win and the comments were enlightening to say the least. There was a bunch of women in the chat room complaining about their kids and how ungrateful they are, rude, lazy, entitled etc. Their own kids. It was of course “society’s fault” and they were the best parents in the world but society was ruining their children. Then came this gem… “and these are the people who are going to be caring for us when we’re old”. I could almost hear the gasps of agreement. Ohhhh how I had to hold my tongue because I don’t want to get my chat taken away (I enjoy chatting in there - usually lol) and then one brave user pipes up, “wow, you really don’t like your kids do you?” You would have thought she’d personally gone to their houses and flung shit around. They were so offended that after half an hour of them absolutely destroying their children, someone had pulled them up on it. But it was the comment about when they get older that got me. They all just assume that their kids are gonna look after them, but don’t trust them because they think they’re so bloody awful. If I had read my mum talking about me like that as a kid, I would emancipated myself or at the very least made sure that she knew I would absolutely not be caring for her in old age. As it stands, mum tells us it’s not our responsibility and she has made arrangements for when the time comes. Regardless, I would look after her because she’s a wonderful mother. But those bingo women, sheesh! I actually feel sorry for their kids not knowing the resentment their own mothers have towards them.
