I'd say this sits in a gray area in Western societies so you're right that this is more like a semi-popular opinion. But if you take a step outside the comfort of hot running water and internet memes you'll find that the rest of the world is still running on being humans (insofar as modernity allows them).

Mental illness, poverty, starvation, abuse, neglect, drugs, and a whole host of issues plague other foreign neighborhoods and communities and yet a (some) Western man and woman think its such a struggle to raise a child because they didn't get the promotion or because one is going through therapy. End your generational continuity because of the dictates of a TV commercial and Microsoft ads. Darwinism will run its course with or without you (you = rhetorical). You either want a kid or not; you're either human or not.
